As someone who has suffered for several years with autoimmune disease (psoriatic arthritis to be specific), I know firsthand how frustrating and debilitating it can be.

While there is no cure for autoimmune disease, there are many natural remedies that can help to alleviate symptoms and improve overall health. In this blog post, I will be sharing the 5 most helpful herbs to help you combat autoimmune disease and find relief for your body.

It contains a powerful anti-inflammatory compound called curcumin, which has been shown to help reduce inflammation and improve symptoms of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease.

Another powerful anti-inflammatory herb, ginger has been used to treat a wide range of ailments, including autoimmune diseases. It contains compounds called gingerols and shgaols, which have been shown to help reduce inflammation and improve symptoms of autoimmune diseases like lupus and multiple sclerosis.

Ashwagandha Root

This herb has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to treat a variety of health conditions, including autoimmune diseases. It is believed to help regulate the immune system and reduce inflammation, making it an effective treatment for autoimmune diseases like psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Licorice Root

Licorice Root

This sweet-tasting herb has been used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of conditions, including autoimmune diseases. It contains a compound called glycyrrhizin, which has been shown to help reduce inflammation and improve symptoms of autoimmune diseases like eczema and Sjogren’s syndrome.

Boswellia (a.k.a. Frankincense)

Also known as frankincense, this herb has been used in traditional medicine for centuries to treat a variety of health conditions, including autoimmune diseases. It contains compounds called boswellic acids, which have been shown to help reduce inflammation and improve symptoms of autoimmune diseases like ulcerative colitis and autoimmune hepatitis.

There are many more herbs that can be helpful for autoimmune disease, but these are the five that I have personally found to be the most helpful for my wellness journey.

While these herbs may not cure the condition, they can help to alleviate symptoms and improve your overall health. If you suffer from an autoimmune disease, please consider incorporating these herbs into your treatment plan (under the guidance of a healthcare provider, of course!).

Cheers!
